Having been involved in other bands and projects, Japanese Breakfast began as a way for Michelle Zauner to explore her music solo. Much of her first album Psychopomp navigates her mother's death, which Michelle explored more five years later in her memoir Crying in H Mart, which became a best-seller. I love that through working through grief, Michelle accomplished incredible feats, output sensational art, and rose to stardom. She deserves all of the attention that's come her way. There aren't many people I would even compare against her. I admire her so much, especially for her courage in meeting the things that come to her.
